React Native News & App.js Conf

The hosts discuss bundled Hermes in React Native 0.69, which pairs each React Native release with a compatible Hermes version, and the build-time and npm package-size challenges involved. They cover React Native Paper v5 and its Material You support, React 18.2’s fix for Safari microtask behavior around iframes, and an experimental esbuild replacement for Metro. They also introduce Reassure, a regression-testing library for React components. The episode closes with reflections on App.js Conf, including its production, talks, and community.
