Building a full JS deep zoom image viewer

Maxence Harm describes how his construction management SaaS product needed a precise, high-performance viewer for large floor plans and blueprints. The talk explains image pyramids and how the team first prototyped tile display with React Native Maps, then moved away from it because map-specific behavior and coordinates did not fit their interaction needs. They built a custom React Native viewer with Reanimated 2, gesture handling, and virtualization to display only visible tiles. Harm also covers the component’s current limitations, possible improvements, and the possibility of open-sourcing it.
