Speaker

Carl, product lead and creator of the free Claude Code for Product Managers course, joins Peter Yang to demonstrate Claude Code integrations and workflows for product teams.

Connect Claude Code to work tools

Carl introduces MCPs as a way to connect Claude Code with the tools product teams use. The demo covers Google Workspace, Linear, Slack, and Reddit, with setup ranging from a more involved Google configuration to a one-command Linear setup.

Prepare meetings and update documents

Claude checks a selected calendar, finds related Google Docs and local notes, and compares them with meeting agendas. It identifies gaps in sprint planning and stakeholder review documents, suggests additions, then updates them with blockers and action items.

Bring Linear, Slack, and Reddit into the workflow

The Linear MCP retrieves issues and can rename a project and its tickets; Carl also suggests creating draft tickets from PRD requirements for an engineer to review. Slack can send project updates, though the demo notes that its message formatting needs work and recommends reviewing drafts before sending. A Reddit MCP retrieves subreddit discussions that Claude's web fetch cannot access in the demo.

Organize files, workflows, and skills

Peter describes folders for stable context, meeting notes, templates, to-dos, tools, scripts, workflows, projects, and temporary files. Carl says he starts with evolving workflow files and turns useful ones into skills or commands. He also demonstrates a council skill that gets feedback from ChatGPT, Gemini, and Grok, plus an image-generation skill using Gemini.

Keep the human in the loop

Carl says Claude can draft skills and context files, but he reviews and edits them before adding them to his system. He describes Claude Code as his main work environment and says his course is free, with downloadable files that take about two hours to work through.

Takeaways

  • Start by connecting the tools your team already uses, then build recurring workflows around real tasks.
  • Use a specific calendar and relevant notes so meeting preparation draws on the right context.
  • Have Claude draft Linear tickets from PRD requirements, then ask an engineer to review them.
  • Review Slack messages before sending, especially when Claude formats the update.
  • Treat generated skills and context files as drafts: edit them before they become part of your setup.
