Alex Blumberg

Alex Blumberg explains how Gimlet Media finds and develops podcast ideas, usually by backing people with a strong vision and giving them the team and resources to grow. He describes how the company evaluates acquisitions, builds audiences through cross-promotion and YouTube, and balances production quality with a show's ability to publish sustainably. He sees podcasting as serving companionship, storytelling, and learning, while noting that discovery and sharing remain difficult. He also shares practical advice for aspiring podcasters and explains how strong interviews draw out stories and emotional honesty.
