The cofounders explain how Fermat’s Library grew from their paper-reading journal club into a platform for annotating research papers and an arXiv browser extension. They describe open science, online collaboration, and ways to improve paper discovery, peer review, and the sharing of negative results. Examples from mathematics, physics, and basketball show how annotations and clear explanations can help people understand research and build on it. They also discuss the challenges of measuring scientific impact, the appeal of open journals, and how readers and university groups can contribute.
